I want to post what I read yesterday. I read the ten commandments again (Exodus 20:1-17). The one that caught my attention this time is the first--you shall have no other gods before me. The pre-immence of God over my life is a high priority. In fact, I saw later that God repeated this command and "tweeked" it.
Read verse 23, "Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold." God shared the proximity of false gods that need to be removed from my life.
There are gods or idols that are before God--in place of God. Then there are gods or idols that are alongside God--sharing the prominent place with God. Both are wrong. God wants the top priority in my life. He wants no idols in place of Him or next to Him. He wants my complete devotion--my full devotion.
May God receive my full-devotion. May the Lord find a fully-devoted follower in me.
