Today's sermon challenged me to engage in life's olympics by keeping first things first (Colossians 3:16). Pastor Ivanildo shared how I can discover victory by enjoying four benefits from the Bible (Psalm 19:7-8):
  1. Healing for your soul
  2. A sharpened mind
  3. A full heart
  4. A light for my path

The one benefit that encouraged me this morning was benefit number three--a full heart. Pastor Ivanildo gave Jesus' words that you can experience a full heart by citing John 15:11, "You joy might be full." The word of God, the Bible, will gladden your heart. This is true in my life. It can be true for you, too.

As I read the Bible, I find wisdom, comfort, courage, epiphanies, and guidance. Right now I am following the reading plan outlined in The One Year Bible. I have adapted the daily readings to fit my start date (June first).

Pastor Ivanildo shared about the life of George Mulller who attributed God's answers to his prayers as a direct correlation to George's consistent reading and obedience to God's Word, the Bible. He quoted Muller as the conclusion to his sermon, "The secret to a contented and fulfilled life is consistent time in the Word!"

I concur. I am experiencing a full heart because I am reading the Bible consistently. May you begin to establish the habit to read regularly and systematically from the Bible. You can start today. One place to find help is the One Year Bible website and blog. Visit and post a comment here how you have discovered how to read the Bible regularly. Many would like to read how you are making it a habit.
