Wooster Grace is challenging every one who attends our church to join the One Campaign. Pastor Bob shared about this in his sermon on Sunday, August 24.
Using the story of the Good Samaritan, Pastor Bob challenged us to be great people. Three marks of true greatness are found in people who reach out to the hurting, who risk their own comfort, and who realize their own inadequacies but reach out anyway.
The One campaign is the challenge to distribute God's grace in the neighborhood in three ways:
- In one unchurched person
- In one under-resourced person
- In one neighborhood project
As I listened to the sermon on-line today, God brought to my attention that I need to risk my own comfort. There are needs out there in this community that I can reach out and meet. May God help each of us step up to the challenge of the One Campaign.

I read in my newsreader of the awful non-response of neighbors to a person's stabbing. Neighbors did not respond to the cries for help. After 30-minutes, someone called the police. The victim eventually died at the hospital. Neighbors did not respond to the cries for help.
I hope the followers of Christ would not be that unresponsive to their neighbors, but would risk their comfort to help the hurting. You need to step up to the challenge. It may not be as dramatic as making a phone call to help save someone's life or it may be as dramatic as meeting someone's need and sharing with them how much Jesus loves them, thus saving someone life for eternity. Whatever the situation that meets you, be ready to respond with God's love.
I am going to pray that you and I will be ready to risk our comfort to help the hurting in spite of our inadequacies. May God empower us to do His work for His glory. Join the challenge with me.
