Sending a family of five from Mansfield to Cameroon to equip leaders

The Carmean family is moving to Yaounde, Cameroon to train pastors and lay leaders with Encompass World Partners.  Grace Church is helping to send the Carmean family. We are part of a coalition of churches who are partnering to provide training for church leaders in Cameroon. 

Why Cameroon?  Cameroon is one of the most stable countries in the central African region. It is home to rolling grasslands, mountains, lush rain forests and arid deserts. The capital city of Yaounde, home to 2.5 million people is where the Carmean Family will be living.

 

Cameroon has roughly 50 Grace Brethren Churches and 30 points of Light scattered throughout the country.  Surprisingly, only a handful of men are trained pastors.  The need for trained pastors to lead churches is urgent.  Jason will be working with a coalition of churches and individuals to develop a leadership training program that will help successfully meet the needs of the churches.

The family  Jason and Christy Carmean are parents of three children; Micaela, Alyssa and Josiah.  Interest in Africa began in 2008 when Jason made his first trip to the Central African Republic (CAR) to teach at the seminary in Bangui. He has taught on two other occasions. Christy traveled to Bangui, CAR three times as well to help with Project Hope & Charite, an orphan care ministry in the CAR.

After being exposed to the extraordinary need for leadership development in Cameroon, the Carmeans have responded to the invitation to go and to teach for a three-year commitment.  The Carmeans intend to leave for Cameroon on Sunday, August 3, 2014.
